With the sun out, the atmosphere at Horsham on the Field of Dreams was electric with parents, fans, players past and present there to witness the final league match of the season. From the outset, it was clear that Horsham had their sights set on completing an unbeaten league run. Their attacking play was fast, fluid, and clinical, while their defence was resilient, with every player stepping up when needed.
In this high-scoring encounter, Horsham dominated from start to finish with a relentless assault. From the opening whistle, they controlled possession, territory and displayed clinical attacking play, crossing the try line multiple times. The forwards dominated the set pieces, creating countless opportunities for themselves and the backs, who could exploit and open up Heathfield's defence.
There were glimpses but throughout the match Heathfield struggled to break through Horsham's defence and apart from their one try, whenever they threatened or seemed to find a way though, Horsham respond with aggressive tackling and quick well-timed turnovers.
With the final whistle, the crowd erupted as Horsham celebrated their league title in front of their ecstatic supporters.
Horsham’s victory and league title has been a testament to their skill, unity, dedication and not to forget their coaching and support staff. Building on the work and development from previous years, they have continued to progress and work hard all season to set up this incredible achievement.
Although one more friendly in the calendar for next week, they now have the foundation to set their sights on their next challenge as Colts.
