Sitting at the top of the table and with only two games remaining in this season's league campaign, Horsham headed to Lewes for a must win game.

With just minutes into the game Horsham struck first with Leo powerfully touching down in the corner after a superb move through the hands down the blind side from the back a scrum.

Despite this early blow, Lewes immediately turned on their attacking prowess with skilled backs play, direct running from their forwards and testing kicks allowing them to play high up the pitch and fully stress the Horsham defence. But not for the first time this season Horsham showed immense character and held strong to protect their line. With the whistle signalling half time, Horsham held a narrow five point lead.

With the second half under way, Horsham struck again by utilising their direct running to repeatedly break the gain line and forcefully manoeuvre themselves up the pitch into a strong field position 10 meters from Lewes' line. After a few more phases of direct play, Harry Dolan powerfully crossed the line. With Harry Peel slotting the conversion, Horsham were 12-0 up.

Unlike the first half it was It Horsham that now had the momentum. From the restart Horsham again manoeuvred themselves up the pitch with excellent line out play and direct running. With Lewes defence eventually stretched, Harry Dolan broke through only to be pulled down just before the line but as the ruck formed, the ever present Alfie saw his chance to pick and dart over the line from close range for a well deserved try. With another conversion to Harry's name it was 19-0.

Not satisfied, again Horsham showed their power from their restart. But this time Horsham's guile came to the forefront. From an awarded penalty on Horsham 10m line Noah had the vision to refuse the kick to touch and deliver a sublimely weighted cross field kick to where Thomas and Milo were waiting. Without breaking his stride, Milo gathered the ball from the bounce, turned on the gas for a 40 metre try in the corner. A try like that deserves to be converted and Harry Peel did not disappoint slotting a first class the kick from the touch line.

Despite the scoreline now being 26-0, Lewis never gave up and the final quarter of the match was fiercely contested and Lewes fully deserved their try. After some quick thinking and quick hands they scored in the corner. However, despite Lewes' late score. Horsham were worthy winners 26-5 and maintaining their top of the table position.

Next week we head to Heathfield and Waldron for the final league game of the season where it will be all to play for. Go Wildcats!
