Many of you will know or have heard of or even seen Vice Presidents in the Clubhouse, mainly drinking or eating at the VP's events throughout the playing season. VP's however do support the club in many other ways such as fundraising, being active committee members or generally supporting the advancement of HRUFC. Many were involved in the recent success of achieving planning permission for the new Clubhouse.
So not what but who are they? Vice Presidents are mostly but not exclusively current or former HRUFC Players who have been honoured by being invited to become a Vice President of the club, but any paid up member can be nominated. There is no formal criteria for becoming a VP, but they are normally individuals that have given consistent and dedicated support to the Club from either a playing, fundraising, organising or helping perspective. The invitation to become a VP is made in recognition of this contribution and to thank individuals for past, present and future support to the Club.
The list of people who have received this honour is printed in the Club Handbook and is updated each year as we receive new nominations. Have a look at the list and I'm sure that many of you will see names that you recognise.
So, what do you do if you want to nominate someone to become a VP or become one yourself ? Well, all of the above really but more specifically VPs need to have supported the club in some of the following ways:
